⚡ What a Pay Stub Shows
- Gross pay: earnings before anything is taken out
- Deductions: taxes, Social Security, Medicare, benefits
- Net pay: gross minus deductions — your actual deposit
- Pay period: the dates the earnings cover
- Keep your stubs: useful for loans, rentals and tax filing
How the Pay Stub Generator Works
A pay stub (payslip) is the breakdown that normally arrives with your paycheck, showing exactly where every dollar went. This generator recreates that document from numbers you provide, in three quick steps:
1. Enter who and when. Your name, your employer, the pay period the stub covers, and the date you were (or will be) paid. These details are what make a stub useful as a personal record.
2. Enter gross pay and each deduction. Type in your gross earnings for the period, then each deduction amount — federal tax, state tax, Social Security, Medicare, and anything else (retirement, health premiums, garnishments) under "other." Net pay is computed automatically as gross minus total deductions.
3. Generate and print. Hit the button to render a clean stub, then print it or save it as a PDF for your records. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — the whole thing runs in your browser.
One important caveat: this is a formatting tool, not payroll software. It trusts the numbers you type. If you need realistic deduction figures, run our paycheck calculator first and copy the results over.
📝 Example: biweekly stub for Jane Smith
Gross pay $2,884.62 for Sept 14–27, 2026, paid Oct 2.
Deductions: Federal $295.00 · State $120.00 · Social Security $178.85 · Medicare $41.83 · Other $50.00 = $685.68 total
Net pay: $2,198.94. Try it above — change any deduction and watch the net update instantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this an official pay stub?
No. This generator formats numbers you supply into a clean stub layout for personal records, budgeting, or mock-ups. It is not issued by an employer or payroll provider.
Can I use this as proof of income for a loan or rental?
Generally no — lenders and landlords want stubs issued by your employer's payroll system. This tool is best for personal organization, estimates, and understanding how stubs are structured.
Does it calculate my taxes for me?
No. You enter your own deduction amounts. If you don't know them, use our paycheck calculator to estimate federal tax, FICA and state tax first, then paste the figures here.
Is my information saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. We don't see, store, or transmit anything you type.
How do I save the stub as a PDF?
Click "Print / Save as PDF," then in your browser's print dialog choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF") as the destination instead of a printer.
What's the difference between gross pay and net pay?
Gross pay is your earnings before deductions. Net pay — the number on the bottom line of the stub — is what remains after taxes and other deductions, i.e., what actually lands in your bank account.
